Ready for a disjointed and awesome blog post that is guaranteed to make your life better, help you get cash before payday, get you ripped in less than 3 months, and help you pay only $9.95 to the IRS when you owed $341,123.67 in back taxes? I thought so, just make sure to ask your doctor if you are healthy enough for sexual activity. (I was about to write more information inside these parentheses, but then I decided that my goal for the blog should be to limit me use of parenthetical asides.)In any event, I will still ramble and blame it on the fact that i just spasmodically drop knowledge on here as opposed to being consistent about it and that model is condusive to rambling. Additionally it is late and I am tired. Just saying. Also, I watched the Social Network again this week, and with that in mind I feel like it is necessary to tell you that I am not drunk, and I am not going to make any jokes about farm animals, or for that matter animal farm. (fail #1 - isn't it amazing how fast you can write paragraphs when they require very little critical thinking or adherance to accepted guidelines?)
Before I decide to venture too far off the path, however, (fail #2 - I can LITERALLY think of like 900 things I could blog about right now) I am going to discuss what I originally intended on addressing. It's pretty basic today. I just wanted to post a few songs that in my opinion are really good to run to. The title of this entry is name of both a song and a tour by Canadian MC k-os, but he doesn't actually make the list this time, though I do like his music a lot and recommend it to you. I think all of the songs for today are courtesy of groups/artists who are more or less in the same genre as k-os, though I am going to go ahead and say that I can't really imagine going running with any of them. As for me, I am pretty sure I wasn't born to run. I don't really like running. What I do like a lot, though, is eating a hell of a lot of bread. Notably the only thing I really like eating more than bread is toast. So I need to run to try to maintain some semblance of fitness whilst I indulge my carb obsession. Maybe you feel the same. Maybe not though, cause I am pretty sure I know the 3 people who will read this by name (fail #3 - LL and J are their initials, which is more than enough reason for me to tell you that I like toast much more than I like pink cookies in a plastic bag gettting crushed by buildings, even if Akon and Lonely Planet assure me that that my tastes may soon change. And even if I had bullet-glass tints behind which to experience said crushing of cookies, I think it could become problematic because I would probably end up feeling like I sweat her, and no, I am not talking about a Coogi. Big Pun said he crushed a lot, despite not being a player, but one thing is for certain there, he did not run enough. Perhaps he could have swam instead, I'm sure they make hats like shark fins that may have helped him out. Unfortunately he sometimes made decisions while he was mad and hit his wife in the face with a gun. Yes, the name of his rap possee was terror squad, so seemingly accurate I guess. If you followed all those references, you are officially fancy, huh.) Anyway, this ended up being kind of a worthless post, he goes my shot at redemption... Songs to run to.
Best first. The Roots feat. John Legend - The Fire
(when running you wouldn't have the talking that is in the video, just saying. But the music and the message just basically will you to keep going)
Nas & Damian Marley - Stong Will Continue
Blackalicious feat. Rakaa Iriscience - Passion
K'naan - If Rap Gets Jealous (Dusty Foot Philosopher Version)
He's just so angry in the chorus that it's really motivating.
Somerthing more coherent later? Deleting this? Both in play. Sleeping now? Yes. Running tomorrow? I hope so. If so, I will be rocking this ish.

Summer 2010 and ish
I pretty much am as good at blogging as I am at writing in a journal, which is to say that I never do it. That stated, I find that I always have a number of things running through my head that I want to express or explore later. Usually those musings find expression in conversation or are scribbled down as random notes and I never look at them again. In the future I will try to do better at coherently expressing some of my more salient thoughts via blog post, but right now I am pretty satisfied with the face to face conversations with thoughtful friends (two of my favorite things in the world bee tea dubs) that allow me to get those out. So for right now I would like to, with a nod to my friend Liel, make a list of those random things I jot down or want to say. without further... blah
Things I did this summer*^ (*not necessarily in chronological order. ^summer being defined as since winter semester ended until today):
1. Lupe Fiasco concert in Seattle with Jowanza. This also included visiting my brother and his family, attending a mariners game, going to the Seattle Art Museum, exploring the University of Washington, flying a bunch, talking about how the gospel is full of paradoxes, discovering my love of tank tops (for attractive females, not for me), hiking (sort of) at Snoqualmie Falls, saying "solid" and "status" way too many times, playing mario on the Wii with my nephew Bradley and listening my nephew Jack analyze the pleasures and pitfalls of making graham cracker, peanut butter, and chocolate chip sandwiches. (maybe this should become it's own blog post like Jowanza made it.)

***NOTE: I took a two day break in writing and am now not nearly so excited as I initially was. I also am having trouble recalling details, but we will see how it goes. Also, while I am stopped here, I love how self-important (my) blogs are. As if people needed to have not only a comprehensive list of what I did this summer (though I would wager it was better than what Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, or any of their three-word-name co-stars did last summer) but also a detailed log of my thinking in writing about them. Pathetic. At least I know it though. Also, one of my favorite idiosyncrasies is that I sometimes think on multiple levels at once, as we just witnessed. Don't make fun of me though, 'cause...
2. The conception, creation, marketing, and release of Surreal's NCMO's vol. 1 (maybe this should be a dissertation.)
listen to "Final Examination" here.

I like that it cuts off the right side of that image. It's fun to me.
Timeout- Did they really make TWO I know what you did last summer movies? How did we let that happen?? Wait, what's that wikipedia?? You say they made THREE!! FTMFL.
3. Other concerts - Passion Pit with Mayer Hawthorne and The County (towards the end of school actually), Modest Mouse (SLC Twilight Concert Series - went to be social), and Matisyahu (SLC Twilight Concert Series - went with high expectations which were not met). Bono effed up his back and U2 had to postpone til next year.. don't know where I will be then, but U2 live is like nothing else I have ever experienced, so I will try to find a way to be there.

4. got tired of posting pictures to my blog.
4a. Listened to Shad's new album TSOL enough to memorize it. Finally made plans to see him perform live (next month) and bought 2 Shad T-shirts.
5. Went camping.
6. Devoured the World Cup. Not literally, but you know what I mean.
7. Became hooked on FIFA World Cup 2010 for PS3. Not much a video game guy, but wow, I love that thing.
8. Made a lot of good friends.
9. Got a mohawk. Sorry, never did get any photos of it.
10. became a fan of the following bands/artists:
Arcade Fire
Jamie T
Das Racist
Kate Nash
11. Went to my cousin's wedding in southern California and stopped by Westwood visit my friends at UCLA.
12. Had a DTR and pitched a tent. Actually, not really. That's one of the lines Ben raps on Surreal's "Welcome to Provo Remix" though.
13. signed up for my last undergraduate course ever.. twice. And then decided to wait and take it later... twice.
14. Tried to do a little soccer camp with my nephew, but he was more interested in the slide at the park.
15. tried sushi for the first time.
16. took part in many notable discussion groups.
17. Went to a fire ceremony at a Hindu temple.
18. Ate 15 dollars worth of frozen yogurt in a single sitting.
19. made my third post on this blog... hopefully more coming, but this is more tiring than I thought.

and i'm back on my grind
So i guess I should use this blog thing since I made it and all...
Some recent developments:
I actually finished my term paper for my Jews and the Holocaust class. Given my recent academic track record, I was way proud about that.
I hosted my UCLA buddies Anand and Shivani and had a great time with them and the other PKPers who came to the little reunion we had.
I am way pumped to see U2, Lupe Fiasco, and possibly Passion Pit in the coming months.
I love life.
